We got up early today so we could go to see Betsy at the kiosk. Well, earlier than normal for Isaac. We missed most of the people with dogs but did get to see Detective Funkhouser.
We also got to watch some activity on the river...two small tugs pushing a big barge. Isaac and Grandma Sara love to spend time watching all the action on the river. It's like a never ending movie.
As we left the waterfront we waved goodbye to Betsy. Drew was not at the kiosk today. He and Betsy went to a baseball game last night and did not get home until very late.
We put out a new flag for the 4th of July.
Since the garden has been growing so well it was time to harvest the onions and put something else in their place. Isaac helped pull up all the onions.
Next we went to our favorite garden store and found they were having a big plant sale today. It's close to the end of the planting season. We got some zucchini, some hot peppers, and some marigolds. The marigolds will add color and keep the bugs away...so says Grandma.
Even though it was nearly lunch time we planted everything.
As you can see, Isaac was running out of steam. We only had to plant a few more peppers and water them before we could go in for lunch.
That's when things got out of hand. Somehow Isaac got all wet. You can see that he had a horrible time!
Isaac had to explain to Grandma how he got so wet.
These are pickles and peppers that we canned yesterday. They will help us remember our summer fun when it's cold outside next winter. For lunch we had some pickles that were canned in 2008 and they were still yummy!
