20 July, more than photos can tell

We have all heard that a photo is worth 1000 words.  Well, I did not take any photos today so you will have to use your imagination...well, until just before bed time.  We got off to a slow start today.  Liv and Ruby joined me for coffee and the paper at about 0730.  Liv is really interested in the weather and the comics so she immediately takes charge of that part of the paper.  Ruby is more interested in her books.  We quickly moved on to breakfast of oatmeal, a favorite around here because we have a secret ingredient (cinnamon) to go with the butter and sugar.

About that time we saw Elanore and Evan out front so everyone ran out to play with them and pet Lucy.

We had story hour at the library, followed by some arts and crafts where the campers decorated sun visors.  You will see them later.

After quiet time we went to the pool for swimming lessons.  A storm had just blown through the area so the pool was virtually deserted except for the two small classes that our campers were in.  Today we had a few milestones:  Liv swam the length of the pool doing the backstroke; Ruby swam the width of the pool without help so now she can play in the big pool while waiting for her class; Isaac put his head under water and kicked.  All the campers were proud of their accomplishments.

We had dinner at Gosport Tavern.  Isaac decided to sing 'When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad' from The Sound of Music.  I have no idea how he got onto that but it was beyond cute.  The campers were well behaved so after we walked home Sara treated the campers to chocolate chip cookies and milk on the front porch.  The campers came in feeling so happy that they hammed it up on the stairs so I took some pictures.

You can clearly see that they were having a horrible time!

After I thought that all the campers were in bed for the night Sara called me to let me know that Isaac was reading a story to the girls.  Isaac must have memorized all of his books because we all know that he's only 3 and can't really read.  Nevertheless, he was reading a book to Liv and Ruby and they were there with rapt attention:
